Are you prepared if a national crisis occurs?

In this project we explored the topic of resilience in the case of a national emergency. In this scenario, everyday services we have come to take for granted have been wiped out. Electricity, tap water and heating are not working and the need to receive information via emergency services is urgent.
What is the best way to be prepared in the case of a crisis?
...
Be familiar with the items needed in times of crisis.

Anna is 20 year old student who lives in a small room. She wants to own an emergency radio to be prepared in the case of a crisis. However, she struggles to find one that fits her needs.
Anna wishes there was an alternative that could combine the functionality of a crisis radio with modern speaker functions and aesthetics. In that way, she could use the radio like a regular speaker and still be prepared in the event of a crisis.
What if the emergency radio already was a part of the user's everyday life?

In the early stage of the development sketching was used to ideate concepts that would fit into the user's everyday life. Could the radio be a flower pot, a part of a modular storage system or in a mirror?

Semantics
The semantic elements were designed to be easily readable and clear even during a blackout. With intuitive controls and large icons which light up when activating the radio the ease of use is clear even in a moment of crisis where the user may be in a hectic state of mind.
Controls
To avoid confusion and remove as much of the mental load as possible for the user, there are only two points of control; a big purple turning-knob and an orange slider-switch. Depending on the position of the slider, the knob controls either the lamp brightness, volume or radio-frequency. The knob is activated by pressing it, which also turns the radio on and off.
